open letter to JABS

WELCOME

The JABS aims and objectives states that JABS “neither recommends nor advises against vaccinations but we aim to promote understanding about immunisations and offer basic support to any parent whose child has a health problem after vaccination.” It is also stated that all are welcome on the discussion boards. However, it has become obvious to some visiting posters that their contributions to discussions have been deleted, not because their comments are offensive, libellous or inflammatory, but because their opinions are “borderline” with respect to the majority feeling of regular contributors.

As a source of information that seeks to help “parents to make an informed decision on the benefits and risks of vaccination” we think that the JABS admin team have a duty to allow (if not encourage) a degree of balance on their website. We do not see how forbidding disparate points of view on the forum can benefit JABS as a site or, more importantly, parents and their children. These concerns come not from a single “compulsive nuisance”, but are the feelings of many observers who feel that JABS has deviated from best practice of providing support and information from a variety of sources.

  2. I made three posts on the Jabs forum in the last few days. I have only just joined.

I can no longer log in, and the email address to the forum admin doesn’t work.

How should I communicate with Jabs to find out what is going on?

I haven’t done anything wrong – I just advised somebody to consult their doctor. Somebody posted after me and APOLOGISED for me. My posts have gone too, even my introduction.

    What should I do?

  4. What can you do?

Re-register, post politely and factually, expect it to be deleted.

    repeat.

  5. Roxy – there is a working email address in their “About this Forum” thread that appears in each section of the JABS forum. Or you could just re-register as Bill says.

  6. The comment above

“We do not see how forbidding disparate points of view on the forum can benefit JABS as a site or, more importantly, parents and their children”

would best be made with evidence through examples; what reasonable points of view have been excluded by the JABS admin team?

Without evidence how can one form an opinion on the contents of this letter to JABS?

  7. Evidence that’s been deleted?

Um.. good question Jack, not sure what to do with that one..
